Dual Fuel Engine
The Dual Fuel engine is a type of engine that utilizes a mixture of diesel fuel and gas fuel or can work off of diesel by its self. The dual fuel engine is not capable of working on gas alone. These engines do not have ignition systems and do not utilize spark plugs.
As the engine is not a pure diesel engine and diesel is not a pure gas, this equipment does suffer from poor fuel efficiency and Methane slippage. Like for instance, the fuel efficiency could be 5% to 8% less than in a comparable spark-ignited, lean burn engine at 100 percent load. It could even be lower or higher loads.
Lift Truck Fuel Sources and Classifications
There are certain recycling materials handling applications which could prove really challenging for lift trucks. For instance, scrap metal is one of these issues. To be able to successfully handle things like this needs utilizing the correct kind of machinery for the task.
There are 7 major lift truck classes, including power sources like hydrogen fuel cell, liquid propane gas, gasoline, diesel and electric. The power source is linked to some of these particular classes. The main power sources for forklifts comprise Battery, Diesel, Gasoline, Propane and Fuel Cell.
The most common overall are electric powered trucks, mostly in Class III, II and class I forklifts. In Classes V and IV, internal combustion trucks are more common. The most popular electric power source is the lead-acid battery. Among internal combustion trucks, about more than 90% are fueled by propane.
The most popular power source for lift trucks is battery. Battery fueled units make up about 60 percent of the new forklifts sold in the United States. Their benefits consist of: less maintenance requirements, quiet operation, the ability to be utilized inside and outside with no harmful emissions.
